As you learned in Chapter 10, conducting evaluations takes on many forms including research, surveys, and data analysis. You will perform a program review of your fire and emergency service organization’s (FESO’s) code enforcement efforts. The after-action review (AAR) process will be the tool that you use to perform the program review. If you are not employed by a FESO, you can use your local FESO or one of interest to you as the basis for this AAR. In your AAR, you must address the elements below. ? Conditions: How did it go? What is the objective or mission of the effort? ? Actions: How does the code enforcement program address the five Es of code enforcement (engineering, education, enforcement, economic incentives, and emergency response)? To what extent are firefighters engaged in the code enforcement process? ? Outcomes: What can be measured? Describe the results. What is the fire loss? How many inspections are completed? What is the frequency of fire and so forth? ? Lessons learned: What was learned and reenforced in your program analysis? ? Summary: Develop a summary for your program analysis that answers three questions, which are listed below. o What should be continued? o What should be started? o What should be stopped? Your AAR must be at least three pages in length, and you must use at least your textbook as a resource. Other resources may be used as needed.
